Initial Thoughts

  1. James Dyson was the founder of Dyson ltd

  2. He invented a vacuum cleaner that is used around the world today

  3. His company also produces other appliances such as air conditioners and hand dryer

Initial Questions

  1. Where did James Dyson get inspiration for his vacuum?

  2. How does the vacuum work?

Analogy

  1. I think that James Dyson can be compared to Colonel Sanders because they both were ahrd working to achieve what they believed in.

New Thoughts

  1. James Dyson got inspiration for his vacuum when he passed a local sawmill which worked because of cyclonic separation

  2. Cyclonic separation is what makes his vacuums not lose suction, and is based on the principle of centrifugal force, which is the tendency of an object following a curved path to fly away from the center of the curvature.

  3. He used to be good at long distance running when he was at school, not because he trained, but because he had a type of determination that no one else had.

New Questions

  1. Why was the Ball barrow sold against his wishes?

  2. Where did he get the materials to make the 5127 prototypes if he was poor?

New Analogy

  1. I think Sir James Dyson can be compared to Thomas Edison because they both took virtually impossible paths to create something that would help the world

Bridge

What I learnt throughout the research of my notable is that if you want to be or create something amazing, patience and determination is the key. This relates back to my analogy of Dyson and Edison, about how they both took astonishingly difficult routes to achieve their goals.

Some of my newer thoughts on Sir James Dyson relate back to my older questions when I hadn't yet done any research on him. For example, I originally asked 'where did James Dyson get inspiration on his vacuum', and then later I found out through thorough research that he got the idea when he walked pass the local sawmill. Because of research, I was able to make connections to other real life examples. This is how my older and newer knowledge on Sir James Dyson relate or 'bridge' to each other.
